The Dolmen Hotel is a large resort hotel in an imposing position In St Pauls Bay, Malta. With three different pools and private beach access, it would be perfect for families looking to spend some time away.
My visit here was during the off season and as I expected most facilities and activities were not running. Excursions round the historic island were available, although I didn't sample these. I preferred the hop on hop off of the Malta bus system. It had been a number of years since I had been to the islands and it came as a shock that iconic yellow buses had been replaced with modern, efficient ones.
The hotel had a very cosmopolitan feel, with lots of different languages spoken by staff and guests alike.
Breakfast was a serve yourself affair with as much food to eat as you wanted. There is a large selection of continental foods: cheeses, hams, salads with a hot counter too. My only disappointment was the distinct lack of bacon on the hot counter. There was plenty of eggs, sausage, hash browns but my love of bacon made me pine for it. There are
Situated in the hotel is the Myokai Spa which is reasonably priced and offers a large selection of treatments. We had the couples massage and it was very relaxing and a highlight of the trip.
